What is the End Of Life Handling Process?
The End Of Life Handling Process is the name given to the process where scrap vehicles are decomissioned and recycled.

Specialised impermeable areas and storage tanks are used when extracting all the fluids from a vehicle. Plastic Stoppers are then fitted to drain and fill points.

Next the vehicle is prepared priored to engine removal and significant parts are removed.

Specialised bays are again used to ensure a safe process and containment of materials while the remaining required parts are removed along with the engine, after which the vehicle is available for a final inspection before being bailed (crushed) and stored for further reprocessing.

The Environment Agency states:
"The End of Life Vehicles (ELV) Directive aims to reduce the amount of waste produced from vehicles when they are scrapped.
Around two million vehicles reach the end of their life in the UK each year. These vehicles are classed as hazardous waste until they have been fully treated."
What is an Authorised Treatment Facility?
London Auto Parts is proud to be a recognised ATF. UK and European directives mean that between 74% and 80% of a vehicle should be reused or recycled. Unlike smaller operators and traditional scrap yards, London Auto Parts has state-of-the-art depollution and vehicle handling systems and equipment, and is recognised by the Department of the Enviroment and is on the Public Register of Authorised Treatment Facilities.

The Environment Agency states:
"Authorised Treatment Facilities (ATFs) are permitted facilities accepting waste motor vehicles, and are able to comply with the requirements of the End of Life Vehicle (ELV) and Environmental Permitting regulations."
